6th International Conference of Pakistan Phtytpathological Society

“Plant Health for Sustainable Agriculture”

The Phytopathological Society of Pakistan was established in 1983 as the first platform in the country for coordination among the renowned Plant Pathologists of Pakistan. Since then the society is working to popularize the science of Plant Pathology in the region. 6th International Conference of Pakistan Phytopathological Society (PPS) has been lately conducted by Department of Plant Pathology, Bahauddin Zakariya University and Central Cotton Research Institute, Multan under the umbrella of PPS.

The objective of the conference aimed at a fruitful discussion forum for national and international Plant pathologists. The event provided the opportunity to bring faculty, researchers, students, scientists, farmers, and industrialists together in open dialogue under one roof. Scientist of international repute from Canada, China, Srilanka, and Malaysia participated in the discussion which benefited the local researchers and scientists. The participants were able to discuss the issues related to plant health which our farmers and researchers are facing under changing the climate and discussed the possible strategies to overcome the problems.

Collectively, above 300 scientific abstracts were submitted, and the audience had a great opportunity to listen to 78 selected oral presentations and 50 selected posters were presented in the event. The organizing committee also announced cash prizes for the best posters and microbes culture art competition (arts presentations elaborating plant pathological elements). Eleven participants were fully supported through “Bursary award” to cover their living and travel costs.
