EFFICACY OF MORINGA LEAVES AND TRICHODERMA HARZIANUM ON THE INVASION AND DEVELOPMENT OF MELOIDOGYNE JAVANICA
Abstract
Efficacy of Trichoderma harzianum and Moringa oleifera at various concentrations (S, S/2, S/4) and in combinations was assessed on the invasion and development of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica. Invasion and development of root-knot nematode was evaluated on eggplant. Data was recorded after 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 days to observe the penetration and development stages including vermiform, swollen, sausage stage, immature females, adult females and egg masses of Meloidogyne incognita. Minimum numbers of nematodes reproduce in standard concentration which is not diluted (10.0) of both T. harzianum and Moringa oleifera extracts. Minimum no. of immature females (5.8) was observed in standard concentration of combine application while maximum in S/4 concentration (22.4). Control showed highest number of females (350.4) due to pathogenic effect of nematodes. Our results revealed that combined application of T. harzianum and M. oleifera could be successfully used in field conditions to suppress the development of M. javanica.
